The Chemistry of Nature
At Rare Mriga, we believe that the skin absorbs what we wear. Chemical dyes (Azo dyes) are harsh on the planet and the wearer. We return to the earth for our palette.
-
Indigo (The Blue Gold): Derived from the Indigofera tinctoria plant. It requires a fermentation process that takes weeks.
-
Madder Root (The Royal Red): Creates the deep, earthy reds found in our Kutch collection.
-
Pomegranate Peel (The Sun Yellow): Provides a rich, ochre yellow that is antimicrobial.
Why Natural Dyes are "Imperfectly Perfect"
Natural dyes are sensitive to the pH of the water and the weather during the drying process. This means no two sarees will ever have the exact same shade. When you wear a naturally dyed Rare Mriga piece, you are wearing a unique fingerprint of nature.
