A Law of Luxury
Mashru means "Permitted" in Arabic. Historically, it was created for royalty who wanted the shine of silk on the outside but needed the comfort of cotton against the skin (due to religious or climatic reasons).
The Technical Marvel
Mashru is a "Satin Weave." The silk warp and cotton weft are interlaced in a way that the silk stays on the surface while the cotton stays at the back. It is thick, lustrous, and incredibly durable.
Why It’s Rare
The number of looms capable of authentic Mashru weaving in Kutch is dwindling. Every Mashru piece you buy from Rare Mriga is a direct contribution to keeping this specific technical skill from going extinct.
